While driving to church on Sunday morning, i noticed an unusual traffic outside the headquarters of TREM at Anthony. My mind immediately switched to an inquisitive mode wondering what was happening. You know me and drama be blood. As i drove by, i saw a huge billboard mounted on top of the church's main auditorium with the picture of the senior pastor raising his hands in..........(i don't know). I found out later in the newspapers it was his 70th birthday celebration. Happy birthday to a christian leader of out time. He has surely been a blessing to millions and this article is not about him or any pastor. Rather, it is about the a culture in the church that recently came to my awareness.
I realized suddenly these is obtainable on most church's publicity materials. The following questions were raised in my thoughts.
1. Since the church programs and meetings are about God, should the pastor's pictures dominate the billboards, fliers and posters?
2. Are we asking people to come and meet God or the Pastor?
3. If these continues, wouldn't it make people idolize the pastors?
4. Are the Pastors okay with the status quo?

FYI, i attend a church where we hardly put our senior pastor's pictures on our billboard even though we have a billboard inside the church compound overlooking the express way. Our billboards are designed to focus on the theme of the senior pastor's messages for the month.
